The Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew

The Queen’s Beasts

Devised and commissioned by the College of Heralds these sculptures represent the ancestry of the late Queen Elizabeth ll, with beasts and badges.
They were first sculptured by James Woodford OBE RA, and placed outside the entrance to Westminster Abbey for the Queen’s Coronation in 1953.
Later a fine new set were sculptured in Portland Stone, these can be seen today in the Royal Botanic Gardens at Kew.

Illustrations of the Queen’s Beasts are the work of the late Robert Brown FHS.
