OUR BADGE

When the Society was first formed, a badge was devised showing the ‘sun in splendour’ with SHS in the centre. This was later considered lacking in heraldic style and the present badge was introduced. The design was created by Mr John Brooke-Little, Norroy and Ulster King of Arms, and adopted in 1984. The crown of oak leaves and acorns was a play on the name of the founder, Mrs Lorraine Greenoak , who presided over the Society from its foundation until October 1992 when she was succeeded by Sir Edmund Bedingfeld, Bt. until his death in 2011. Mr Gerry de Roeper is the present president.
